
Kristina Heyward
Occupational Therapist, Registered, Licensed
Kristin completed her undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Psychology. She received her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from East Carolina University. Kristin has always enjoyed working with the pediatric population and has experience with many conditions, including autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, intellectual disability, and developmental delays. Kristin has volunteered with several summer camps, including one for kids with hemiplegia and another for kids with a variety of serious medical conditions. As an occupational therapy student, Kristin volunteered with an adapted physical education program, working to
facilitate safe, fun, and inclusive PE activities. She also participated in a research project exploring the unique perspectives of parents of children with disabilities and effective ways to support these critical caregivers. Kristin completed clinical rotations across an array of settings, including adult acute care, school-based practice, and an outpatient pediatric constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT) program. In her free time, Kristin enjoys cooking new dinner recipes, hiking, playing piano, and spending time with loved ones.
