Rachel Curran

Rachel is a licensed Physical Therapist from Upstate New York. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Duke University’s School of Medicine, after completing a B.S. in Rehabilitation Science and a certification in Patho-kinesiology at the University of Pittsburgh.

Rachel’s rehabilitation experience includes working at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh, PA, where she was cross-trained in ICU and acute neuro-trauma units focusing on Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury, and Traumatic Brain Injury. Her clinical internships specialized in infant-handling, torticollis, motor milestone delays, and a variety of neuromuscular conditions across diverse pediatric and adolescent populations. She has experience in various settings, including hospitals, inpatient and outpatient clinics, home care, and specialty clinics for spasticity, orthopedics, muscular dystrophy, and Down syndrome. Her current research on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy allows her to apply her clinical skills to evidence-based practice with a unique, vulnerable population. Additionally, Rachel has global experience from medical mission trips to Costa Rica and volunteering at an intensive stroke camp and local pediatric clinics in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica.

As a Physical Therapist with Abilitations, Rachel can expand her creativity while working with infants and children, utilize her knowledge of movement patterns, facilitate the resilience of the human body, and continuously be inspired by each patient and family. In her free time, Rachel enjoys traveling for hiking adventures, running and rowing outdoors, and spending time with her friends, plants, and numerous animals.
